I still remember the day after December 8th 2004.

My friend and I with our usual routine of hanging out at the mall, visiting the sunrise record store at the mall and looking at the pathetically small metal section. For me it was a time before smartphones were everywhere, and news travelled instantly. As we went to purchase our newly found CDs, the cashier looked at my friend’s Pantera sweatshirt, “did you hear what happened? He’s dead.” of course we thought it was just a joke, she was older than us (we were 21) but she repeated the statement “Dimebag Darrell is dead.”

We didn’t break down and cry, we didn’t vandalize anything. All we could do was be in shock that such an influential guitarist was gone forever. Later when we got home, going online told us the beginning of the story that would develop over the weeks to come.

RIP Dimebag Darrell, taken from us too soon by a mad man whose  deteriorating mental health was unnoticed until it was too late.

Your music lives on.

Today Rocksmith brings us three tracks from Pantera including the metal anthem, Walk, the extremely familiar song to members of our site Cowboys From Hell, and a song that I personally couldn’t believe has been included, the heavy hitting Domination.

Pantera Pack – 640 MSP / $7.99

Sometime on Thursday we’ll find out a hint for the next offering of Rocksmith DLC! Will it be more metal, Or something a bit different?
