Guitar Hero and DJ Hero DLC Confirmed for March and April

After all of the uncertainty and the he said, she said nonsense, One of Swords has given us some solid news regarding the future of DLC for the Hero franchise. To be honest, we’ve got some good news and we’ve got some bad news.

The good news is that we will see downloadable content over the next two months in order to clean out what Activision had already created and planned to release for Warriors of Rock and DJ Hero 2. If it follows suit for the majority of the Guitar Hero franchise, that means we’ll see around 20 more songs for Warriors of Rock DLC.

Now for the bad news. From everything we’re hearing, the indications are now pointing to us not seeing any more DLC after the month of April. That means if you’ve been hoping for a particular song to come to the Hero franchise, if you’re the prayin’ type… now’d be the time.

Two more months of DLC is pretty cool. Also, there is no indications that it will only be 10 songs per pack. They cleaning out their stock of licensed music! Who knows how much that could be! It could a be quite a number of songs!

20 songs is just an estimate, people.

I figured there would be a last bit of DLC released. Seeing as how licensing is done way ahead of time, and as far as I’m aware you can’t really “return” licenses.

I know! We need more eighties rock and metal! That last pack was a horrible way to supposedly “end” DLC.

I think there will be A LOT of DLC.

I remember reading somewhere that it takes the guys at Harmonix about 3 months to make a week’s worth of DLC. Using that as a reference point, Activision (or whoever is in charge of releasing DLC) will probably just dump all the remaining songs that they have over the next two months. So it’ll probably be a bit more than 20 songs.

Two months is still better than nothing at this point.

Two more megapacks would be cool, but I’m not certainly expecting more than that — probably less, if anything, because songs that were not fully cleared with licensing would probably not be completed, since they said licensing is a serious expense.

So…if it was paid for, it’s probably in. If the ink was not dry, it’s probably not. And for April, I suspect it might be a “this is as far as it got” Track Pack. 🙂

I will be very happy if it turns out to be even more, but those of you who are convincing yourself that there’s a giant archive of unreleased DLC are probably setting yourselves up for disappointment. Haven’t we had enough of that already?
