FreeStyle Games “Working With” Activision

Activision has become somewhat notorious for their closing of studios, but it would seem that FreeStyle Games, developer behind DJ Hero, isn’t going down without a little bit of a fight.

According to a statement issued by David Osbourn, Jamie Jackson and Chris Lee of FreeStyle Games, the studio are currently exploring options for the future.

We’re actively working with Activision on various options going forward for the studio. No decisions have been taken at this stage. We appreciate everyone’s support through this process and will be as open and transparent as possible as soon as we know more.

So perhaps there is some glimmer of hope left for FreeStyle Games, but, as we’ve been saying over the past 24 hours, it isn’t looking incredibly good. Stay tuned for more information and hopefully that information will be good news for FreeStyle Games!

I really hope FSG can make it out of this alive. They have so much potential and it would be a complete shame to see them go out like this.

Why do I get the feeling that “exploring options” will translate into “Learn to make Call of Duty”?

Also, there’s now word that Vicarious Visions has lost a chunk of their staff as well, though the company hasn’t completely been kicked as of now. (Source:Joystiq)

Do we know if Vicarious Visions were the ones developing GH7? There were rumours, but nothing solid. They would have been the best choice after Neversoft.

As if Activision cared. FSG are dooooooooooooooomed!!!!!!!!!

  4. Mark says:

I’d like to see DJ Hero continue, they should just not release a peripheral for a few titles and focus on the music and the game and then if they do well they can focus on the peripheral. Sadly the people who like the kind of music in DJ Hero are not typically the ones who are gamers and buy weekly DLC like people do for Guitar Hero and Rock Band.

  5. Lime Blockade says:

I really hope they can continue to make DJ Hero games. The second game is way better than the first game, (In my opinion) and I hope they can just continue to keep making them better and better.
