Guitar Hero DLC: February Mega Pack

The Guitar Hero franchise may have taken severe cutbacks in terms of amount of DLC they release, but they seem to be trying to make up for it with some crowd pleasing tunes that are sure to excite the base community of the title.

As usual, it looks like we’ll be seeing just one pack this month, consisting of ten tracks from several different artists. The theme of this pack definitely appears to be metal, as it draws from Children of Bodom, Black Label Society, Marilyn Manson, and Firewind.

The Black Label Society offerings are all from the latest release, Order of the Black, which garnered fairly universal critical acclaim. Children of Bodom bring a “Was it Worth It?” off of their upcoming album, Relentless Reckless Forever, as well two favorites from previous releases. Fan favorite Marilyn Manson returns to the DLC catalog with three of his greatest hits. Rounding out the ten pack is a single track from insanely fast playing Firewind, who will definitely give you a run for your money on all instruments concerned.

Check out the list below, which was leaked by the Playstation Europe Blog, and get ready for February’s DLC, likely hitting virtual stores February 8th.

Children of Bodom without keyboard??? Are u srs Bobby?

    • Steve the Gamer says:

The fact that you think Bobby hand-picks DLC is absolutely hilarious.

The fact that you’re implying you can’t enjoy Bodom DLC without a keyboard is even funnier. Harmonix released a Beatles game without a keyboard…let alone a string quartet. No cello controller? RIPOFF!!1!

In my mind, releasing more plastic instruments at this point would be a mistake. Take the music you like and enjoy it.

And hey, if you really want to buy a keyboard, make it one for your PC — looks like some of the letters don’t work on yours.

    • Ty says:

Activistion: children of bodem without keyboard!
GH community: “your killing me larry!!!”

  2. xl aerosmash lx says:

    boring

  3. Jake says:

This is seriously one of the best packs, im so pumped to play these
    Children of Bodom FTW

  4. Ed Tanguy EWE says:

These are great tracks! but again, would rather see these in smaller packs throughout the month :/

also, i would prefer some differant songs by these artists, but hey, i’m still gonna buy them all ! 😀

  5. Leonardo Storti says:

Alot more heavy based this time which is always welcome in all honesty….Firewind was awesome first time I heard that song and it kicked ass so I will download it….I’m not a Marilyn Manson fan so not really getting that…still, I wish they could have given us some Coheed and Cambria

  6. Leonardo Storti says:

One thing I just realized, this was heavy metal based so…why is there no Iron Maiden?….literally if you’re going to focus on a more heavier setting iron Maiden should have been included….10 DLCs for month, it’s not really doing it for me…..how about 20 per month, yeah that would work i can actaully look forward to waiting monthly

    • Brian says:

This looks to be based on primarily newer metal, which would explain the lack of Maiden. If they ever release a classic metal 10 pack and it doesn’t include Maiden, it might make a bit more sense to complain.

  7. The Anime Cow says:

Very happy abut the Bodum tracks, and the ability to play WoF with tap notes in the synth solo will be fun. Meh on the BLS songs, ill listen to them and make a decision on whether I want them or not. Big old “YUCK!” to the MM songs though. I have no love for Manson, so I guess I wont be buying the whole pack after all.

  8. Uunoftw says:

Not really feeling this. Anyway I’m sure someone will enjoy this so it’s all good.

  9. Elliott says:

Tourniquet will be an amazing full band song- so excited for that

  11. Rab says:

Darn, was hoping for Sweet Dreams…but that’s still a great triple dose of MM..

I wish they’d release three packs instead of ten packs (I’m skeptical that many people pick up random expensive packs). It’s why I still didn’t pick up NIN & ADTR tracks yet. If they’re not gonna give me that discount that I kind of expect, then I probably will just wait for all GH songs to go on sale before buying.

  12. mrstuprigge says:

i will probably get the children of bodom songs.

  13. foreverBK says:

I am pretty excited for all these tracks. Like the article says, Guitar Hero is cutting back a little bit, but I am always surprised about the songs we get so thank you Activision, Beenox, Vicarious Visions. Whoever is doing this haha.

Not really my thing, but I’m sure someone will find enjoyment in this, so yay.

  16. Kelso says:

Very nice pack, i’ll get the Bodom songs for sure, and probably the BLS and Firewind one. Not gonna touch the MM stuff though.

  17. DucksFAN says:

I’m getting all but Marilyn Manson.

    A+ DLC

  18. Mike says:

Finally some metal! Gonna get Bodom and BLS.

  19. Lord Mhoram says:

The only song of that list that I like (the Firewind song) I already have in Rock Band. So nothing for me this month.

Considering NIN and Marilon Manson are two of my least favorite bands of all time (up there with RHCP) it seems that GH doesn’t want my money.

Happy for those that like these bands, but a skip month for me.

  20. johnnyboyblade says:

    Wow, this is rediculously awesome.

    Shame I don’t play GH W.O.R anymore 🙁

It’s like as soon as I stop playing GH again and go back to RB all the good stuff on GH starts to come out lol.

  21. Greg says:

Eh. Not really feeling any of it this week. I would really like to know why we can only get a 10 pack each month for Guitar Hero when we are getting full album dlc for Rock Band almost every week. Just a simple question that will probably go unanswered.

  22. Game!Ov3r says:

Guitar Hero? I totally forgot they were around… but serious, the long delay in DLC makes me lose interest. When it was weekly I would at least put the game in once a week to check out songs and ended up playing the game, but now it looks like it only will be remembered once a month.

I am only picking up a couple of th Manson songs, not a great selection for me this month.

  23. DucksFAN says:

I really don’t mind the mega-pack format. I can’t afford to keep buying DLC every week anyway. But I can do the mega-pack every month. Plus, we are only losing out on two extra songs per month. Big difference there. And if the Mega-Packs are going to remain awesome like January and February’s have been, then I’m game for waiting a month.

  24. Krystof says:

    Coma White? Tourniquet? Awesome!

  25. Croq says:

Nothing’s really grabbing me here. Probably good since I burned a pile of points buying the London Calling album for RB this week… Been spending WAY too much $$$ on DLC lately. Not that I have any intention of stopping, just saying.

  26. PSPCOW says:

Weird. Why not release these separately as 3 packs? Oh well. Like DucksFAN said, its better to have one good pack than numerous songs per week. Sorry, but Johnny Cash isn’t ideal for Rock Band.

  27. Peter says:

HORRIBLE!!!!! NOT ONE SONG I WOULD PLAY OR EVEN LISTEN TOO!!!! looks like I will have to wait until March….. What a huge let down…. Crap… crap… and more crap….. 0 out of 10…. March can’t get here sooner….

  28. Stephen H says:

It’s times like this I’m glad that I’m a Rock Band player… always regularly scheduled dlc, usually good variety.

  29. KEWB says:

For the first time in a LOOOOONG time, I’m going to have to buy quite a few GH dlc tracks. If only we could get some more CoB in RB. Definitely picking up that, and probably the BLS songs too. Already have the Firewind song on RB and hate Manson.

  30. Ed Tanguy EWE says:

As awesome as this’ll be for guitar, i do love to sing, VERY much… and the RB DLC with Total Eclipse of the Heart, Don’t You Want Me and Paradise by the Dashboard Lights are a LOT more ‘singable’ than Children of Bodom :/

so this month… i’m still undecided about who wins DLC-wise :/
