Activision responds to the “Disc Unreadable” Warriors of Rock claims

Even though we liked the latest installment of the Guitar Hero franchise, it seems some Xbox 360’s don’t.

A “Disc Unreadable” error left some rockers unplugged when they brought their copies of Warriors of Rock home.

Today, in a Joystiq report, Activision addressed the error with a number to call in case you are stricken with the message.

According to the Joystiq report:

Folks who are having a problem should call Activision’s customer service center at 800-225-6588. The publisher states that it will “offer existing customers free replacement discs in exchange for any purchased defective disc.”

Worked fine from day 1. Even though WOR has screwed up a lot of my DLC. I scroll and hover over a few DLC songs and it says its corrupt and then sends me back to the main menu! They all work fine in GH5 though. Will have to re-download some of the packs I guess.

Why mess with the company? If you bought it at a box store, why not just exchange it for another copy?

    • Brian says:

Well the story on Joystiq claims that one store had over 40 returned copies, meaning entire shipments could have been subject to the error. But yeah, generally, I agree.

I tried the return approach, out of a total of 4 purchases between me and a friend we got 1 working disc. It just got to be too much of a hassle going back up to the store over and over again. Waiting on activision now.

Yep, when I popped my disc in today for the first time it tried reading for about 2 minutes and then gave me the disc unreadable message, after I turned my xbox off and on I was able to navigate to quickplay+ but as soon as I got to song selection I got another disc unreadable screen, luckily there was one last bundle left at my best buy that I was able to exchange it for.

I had an “unreadable disc” when I got my first copy(Guitar Bundle), then I went back to Gamestop and gave them my copy of the game, and got the stand-alone game and it worked just fine.

I got the game day 1. The first time the game worked fine, but then the next time I tried to play it couldn’t read. But I haven’t had any problems with it since.

I had this problem yesterday when I bought WOR. I knew searching it on Google would pop up some articles about others experiencing the same problem. I actually did exchange my first disk at the walmart I bought it for another disk and the second disk doesnt work either. Waste of money

Got the game two days ago. Worked once. Now it’s taking forever to recognize in the wii menu, and then goes straight to a black screen when you try to start it, and locks down the wii. Swapped at Game Stop (after a hassle..)…and brought it home, same trouble. Contacted Activision, who told em to take it back to the store again.

Negative. Two days before Christmas, in a mall that I’ve already been to not once, but twice, in a store who doesn’t feel (and I kinda agree) they should have to keep eating inventory because activision can’t make a game that works. I very firmly told the man at activision “Oh, no. You’re going to fix this problem. You’ve acknowleded that it’s your problem and even given a phone number to call…now you’re going to fix it, and you’re going to do it in a timely manner, not six weeks, not make me ship back a game and you’ll test it, you’re going to do it in a timely manner”. He put me on hold, and just came back to me and said there may be a solution we can fix it right now, by “deleting game data”. Currently back on hold. Will advise when I hear something further…
