If you’ve been watching any amount of TV over the past week, particularly football, you may have noticed these unrealistic commercials that depict various people receiving nice $75,000 Lexus vehicles as holiday gifts. We’ve never met anybody that has lived out this fantasy in real life, but apparently one of you crazy Guitar Hero fans has come through in the clutch for your mom or wife.
The latest advertising campaign for Lexus’ annual “December to Remember” sales event features an advertisement called “Holiday Hero,” and heavily features Guitar Hero III: Legends of Rock showing a custom setlist. We can’t quite figure out what console they’re playing on in the commercial, but we’re pretty sure that someone at Lexus visited consulted the software forum on Scorehero to get the desired result.
The family leads the unsuspecting mother towards the TV to play a song called “Mom’s Gift.” Upon playing it, she hears a generic sounding holiday song that somehow tips her off that she’s getting an expensive car for Christmas. I know that’s probably Lexus’ theme song for the holidays, but really, who would make that connection?
Also, where did they get this magical hybrid of Guitar Hero III and Guitar Hero World Tour? Did the family modify the game? Did they use duct tape? Who knows!
This whole advertisement is an anomaly, but either way, it’s nice to know that Guitar Hero is still around to spread the true meaning of the holiday season through material possessions!
Someone check on GHTunes and see if we can get “Mom’s Gift” we want to try to get the optimal score.
