Sure They Tossed Some Guitars in a Volcano- but How is That Setlist?

We got Clapton nyah nyah

It’s no secret that for awhile now the Western Rhythm Gaming world has been dominated by Guitar Hero and Rock Band.

Every once in awhile a new competitor comes along which causes a majority of the community to scoff as it sells poorly and is discarded into the bargain bin.

First it was Rock Revolution and now it seems like the evolution of this “odd man out” is PowerGig.

We won’t get into the Air Drums or the fact it has a Real Guitar and a story that seems like it’s come straight out of an Orwellian fantasy. What we can say is this:

The Setlist is well… Quite shocking.

Containing bands that GH/RB fans would most likely sell their Black SG to have them in their game of choice such as: Incubus, Queens of The Stone Age, Mastodon, ERIC CLAPTON, Paramore, Stevie Ray Vaughan, and Rage Against The Machine with quite possibly the best song choice yet.

So given the fact that PowerGig will work with all your existing plastic instruments will you be Rocking It Real?

It’s a shame that with a setlist like this the game looks so awful.

This will be a rental, that’s for sure. I’ll buy it when it hits the magic $10/20 range.

    • Jed says:

That’s probably not happening, since its packaged with a real guitar and requires a certain kit to go into mojo. I’d pay $10/$20 nevertheless, if it happens…

  2. FrankieB says:

Some Korn now huh? And Bombtrack too? Oh well, it will all make its way over to our beloved normal fake plastic instrument games.

  3. loopychew says:

The songs I recognize are quite good, but I’m not going to get the game at all, not for even the setlist.

Where’d you get this list, though? Is it at PAX? Their site doesn’t show all these.

    • loopychew says:

Also, at some point they’re going to have to come clean with their equivalent to the RB “Pro mode,” since the entire schtick behind “rocking it real” has been the SixString. Even with a FirstAct controller that quite frankly doesn’t really look that reassuring (apparently a full-size controller will make its debut later), it can be saved if the software it’s using is good (also not reassured by the game interface shown thus far).

    • Brian says:

I got the list e-mailed directly from the developers and e-mailed it to Elliott for posting.

  4. Ty says:

only song not in a rythm game already that I would want is “you’re gonna go far kid” fail setlist

  5. Game!Ov3r says:

I want some 3 days Grace for either RockBand or GuitarHero! This is not fair! Plus I find it funny that they were also able to get Black Sabbath, yet RB doesnt have any master Sabbath songs.

    • DucksFAN says:

SH–….(Disturbed’s “The Night”…… Might have to…buy…this…crappy…game…MAYBE!)….I will never get a game as stupid looking as this!

  6. Mindy says:

In the awesome scheme of things you receive an A+ with regard to effort and hard work. Where you confused me personally ended up being on your specifics. You know, people say, details make or break the argument.. And it could not be more true in this article. Having said that, let me inform you what exactly did deliver the results. Your text is definitely pretty engaging which is probably the reason why I am taking an effort to opine. I do not make it a regular habit of doing that. 2nd, although I can certainly see the leaps in reasoning you come up with, I am not necessarily certain of just how you appear to unite the ideas which inturn make your final result. For the moment I will subscribe to your issue however hope in the foreseeable future you actually link the dots much better.
