Thursday Throwback DLC Pick: Ram Jam – “Black Betty”

Welcome back to our weekly feature, Thursday Throwback DLC! Each week we feature a song from the Guitar Hero DLC catalog that we feel deserves a second (or first) look.

This time around, we’re looking at one of the few covers that has come out since Guitar Hero World Tour dropped. The Southern Rock Track Pack featured tracks from Creedence Clearwater Revival, ZZ Top and our featured track, Ram Jam’s “Black Betty”.

The song is one of the most well-known tracks in rock and roll history, but is often written off in the discussion of great classic rock songs of all-time. The song has been recorded tens of times, but the Ram Jam version is definitely the most notable version.

The guitar and drums are definitely the most fun parts, but singing along with the vocal line on this track is also a blast. The pack came out in February of 2009 and many people consider it to be one of the best tracks released for Guitar Hero World Tour. The track is only $2 and you’ll definitely get that much value out of it.

Officially Released: February 9th, 2009
Games Compatible With: Guitar Hero World Tour, Guitar Hero 5, Band Hero, Guitar Hero: Warriors of Rock
Price: $2 for the individual track, $5.50 for the Southern Rock Track Pack

As brilliant as this track is, the drum chart is so broken it’s damn near unplayable.

This is on the most requested songs during my Guitar Hero parties. Its a pretty sweet pick for DLC throwback. Even though it is a cover it comes accross really well.

Yeah I was really excited when this song, let alone the entire track pack, came out. I really like playing this one but like listening to Spiderbaits cover more
