Linkin Park fills the October 19th Guitar Hero DLC void, heads for DJ Hero 2

Well, those rumors that came out over the summer look to be true, as Dan Amrich (@OneofSwords) has posted that October 19th will, in fact, see more Linkin Park coming to Guitar Hero and DJ Hero this fall.

When Activision announced the DLC schedule for October, many fans were wondering why there was a blank week. At least now we know that they aren’t planning on abandoning their latest release.

Check out the songs coming to Guitar Hero: Warriors of Rock on October 19th below. They haven’t announced what songs will be coming to DJ Hero 2 yet. All of the songs coming to both franchises are from their latest album, A Thousand Suns.

Songs Coming to Guitar Hero: Warriors of Rock
$11.99 for the six-pack

“Blackout”
“Burning in the Skies”
“The Catalyst”
“The Messenger”
“Waiting for the End”
“Wretches and Kings”

In addition, if you buy Warriors of Rock or DJ Hero 2 on Amazon between October 17th and 23rd, you’ll receive Linkin Park’s latest offering for free, given you live in the US. Though we weren’t incredibly impressed with the new album from Linkin Park, this is still a pretty sweet deal.

eh…not a huge fan of the new CD, but will pick up the Catalyst because thats what the radio people want me to. Now if only the Rock Band Track Pack would come out… I believe they were souppose to have some of the earlier hits.

October still sucks for GH:DLC…but heres to hoping for a great November…Keep the 6 packs coming! And give me my Free Metallica Wii export!

    • DucksFAN says:

Not gonna happen. Those rumors were shot down. By the way, I knew this would come out for us because when the LPAssocation shot down RB’s DLC, they didn’t shoot down GH’s!

  3. DVD Smith says:

Finally, some Linkin Park DLC. Even if it is from their most GH-unfriendly album. It’s like picking and choosing tracks from The Dark Side of the Moon for GH – they wouldn’t be fun to play and the album is meant to be listened to as a whole.

On the other hand, The Catalyst is awesome. Disappointed that Iridescent isn’t there, that’s the album’s best track.

Now hopefully this will lead to stuff from their first three albums.

    • DVD Smith says:

Also major props to DucksFAN for correctly predicting this week and getting 5 of the 6 songs right. 🙂

    • DucksFAN says:

Well, that is not totally true on your thoughts about un-friendly songs to GH. Electronic/synth songs can actually be quite challenging. (See Owl City’s “Fireflies”) Your thoughts about the album needing to be listened to as a whole are understandable, but, some of the songs are 1-1.5 minutes of instrumentals. How do we know these songs, like for example, “Burning In The Skies” doesn’t have “The Requiem” and “The Radiance” attatched to it? Or “Waiting For The End” might have “Jornada Del Muerto” attatched. You know, Rock Band attatched “Remnants” to “Asylum” on their Disturbed 3 pack 2 months ago, and they didn’t list that they were going to do that. So, I think it’s a possibility, and those parts have some decent instrumentals to play. Plus, “Waiting For The End”, “Wretches And Kings”, “The Catalyst”, and “Burning In The Skies” might be interesting chart patterns. I, also am dissapointed that Irridescent did not make the pack. It would have been much better than “The Messenger” which honestly is pretty bad. Overall, total thumbs up to Guitar Hero for three things:

      1. Bringing Disturbed, Muse, Soundgarden singles (I didn’t want the full album), and Linkin Park to us as DLC
      2. A free three pack last week.
      3. 6 songs from Linkin Park

Finally, I hop you’re right that this might lead to stuff from their old albums, namely “Papercut”, “Points of Authority”, “With You”, “Faint”, and “Numb”! Peace.

    BEST DLC EVER AAAAAA.

    • DucksFAN says:

  6. Cactaur says:

The Alter Bridge pack could maybe happen. “Ties that Bind” was originally announced as DLC at first before it was confirmed on-disc.

  7. DVD Smith says:

Okay, after listening to A Thousand Suns in full today, I can say that the track that will be the most fun to play (and the one to watch for any non-LP fans) is Burning in the Skies. It’s one of the few songs on the album that doesn’t use a drum machine, and has something which very few LP songs possess – a guitar solo.

Less excited for the rest of the songs though. IMO, apart from Burning in the Skies and The Catalyst, they’ve picked the worst songs for the pack. Iridescent, Robot Boy and When They Come For Me are much better songs.

  8. Jake says:

Im not too excited for this, I was hoping for a mix from the new album and some old stuff, like 3 new, 3 old. Im not the biggest Linkin Park fan either, but my bro is, so ill be getting this, hopefully it is some what challenging

  9. Dark Reality says:

Damn, so RB doesn’t get more Linkin Park; GH does, but it’s just new crap, not one song from the first album. I don’t know who’s got it worse.

I like those November predictions, especially for Papa Roach and Three Days Grace, almost enough to be jealous, but then I remember I’m the vocalist, so I can’t be jealous if they come to the one that doesn’t support vocals, LOL.

    • DucksFAN says:

Hey, come on now. ANY Linkin Park songs are good songs (With the exception of “The Messenger”…), so I’m thrilled we’re getting SIX songs including “The Catalyst”, “Wretches And Kings”, and “Waiting For The End”! Also, If I could, I would like to revise my predictions, all will remain the same, however, I would like to change the Papa Roach predictions, so please check out my revised predictions:
